The management of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has invited suitably qualified candidates to apply for the 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise.

Candidates who applied for undergraduate admission through JAMB, selected FUTO as their first-choice institution, and sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or applied for Direct Entry admission are eligible to participate in the screening process.

However, candidates who did not initially choose FUTO as their first-choice institution but scored at least 150 in UTME can still apply after changing to FUTO on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) on or before July 31, 2026.

FUTO Post-UTME 2026/2027 Eligibility Requirements

Candidates interested in applying must satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Application starts on Friday, May 22, 2026 and closes on Friday, July 31, 2026.
  2. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026.
  3. Candidates must score a minimum of 150 in UTME.
  4. Applicants must ensure their JAMB subject combination aligns with the approved programme requirements.
  5. Candidates must possess at least five (5) O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
  6. Candidates applying for the MBBS programme must obtain five O’Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in one sitting.
  7. Direct Entry candidates must possess A’Level qualifications, OND, HND, or First Degree in relevant disciplines.

Payment and Screening Notice
  1. Mode of Payment and Registration Procedure Eligible candidates are required to pay an application fee of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000.00).
  2. Nature of the Screening Exercise The 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry Screening Exercise shall be based on verified JAMB scores and O'Level results uploaded on JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
Important Notices
  1. Ensure that your details on JAMB CAPS match what you have on the Post-UTME application portal. For instance, ensure that you use your correct JAMB Registration number, date of birth, state of origin, etc. for application.
  2. Only candidates whose departments of choice on JAMB CAPS are the same as on Post-UTME application will be considered for admission.
  3. Candidates must provide their valid mobile number and functional e-mail address for further communication.
  4. Candidates must upload their O'Level results on JAMB CAPS, NOT LATER THAN August 17, 2026.
  5. ONLY candidates who successfully submit applications and upload their O'Level results on JAMB CAPS on or before the given deadline will be considered for admission.
  6. FOR DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES In addition to the above:
  7. Ensure that your certificate is verified by the awarding institution on JAMB CAPS.
  8. Ensure that your academic transcript reaches The Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Owerri, Imo State, NOT LATER THAN August 17, 2026.
  9. Only candidates whose academic transcripts reach The Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Owerri, Imo State on before the stipulated date will be considered for admission.
To register, follow these steps:
  1. (i) Visit the University website: www.futo.edu.ng, Click on "Prospective Students" then Click on "Undergraduate" OR (ii) Use this link: https://portal.futo.edu.ng/#undergraduate
  2. Click on "Generate invoice"
  3. Enter your JAMB Registration Number to generate Payment Invoice containing the Remita Retrieval Reference Number (RRR).
  4. Proceed to any Bank with the payment invoice OR simply pay with your ATM Card.
  5. Return to the Application portal: https://portal.futo.edu.ng/#undergraduate
  6. Click on "Application Form"
  7. Enter your JAMB Registration number and click on "Login".
  8. Proceed with the completion of the form.
  9. Correctly enter all your details as required.
  10. Confirm your entries.
  11. Submit your application (Note that your application is COMPLETED only when you click "Submit").
  12. Print out your acknowledgement slip.
  13. Await further communication from the University.
