Since his inauguration on Monday, 16 February 2026, Professor Ibileye has demonstrated a strong commitment to practical governance, staff motivation, and institutional development. Within just one month, several impactful initiatives have been introduced to improve the academic environment and overall functioning of the university.
One of the Vice-Chancellor’s earliest actions was the immediate payment of ₦10,000 to examination invigilators, a step widely applauded by staff for recognizing and supporting the critical role they play in maintaining the integrity of the university’s examination system.
In a major stride toward improving digital connectivity and academic productivity, the university has purchased and installed Eleven Starlink internet services across the campus. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance access to high-speed internet for teaching, research, and administrative operations.
Professor Ibileye has also prioritized access to digital tools for learning and work through the distribution of 100 laptop computers to staff and students, reinforcing the university’s commitment to technological advancement and academic excellence. This initiative was facilitated by Honourable James Abiodun Faleke.
Demonstrating strong attention to staff welfare, the Vice-Chancellor further announced a ₦50 million car refurbishment loan scheme for staff, designed to support staff mobility and ease transportation challenges. The initiative reflects the administration’s dedication to improving the quality of life and productivity of university personnel.
In addition, the Vice-Chancellor has strengthened transparent and prompt dissemination of information across the campus, ensuring that staff and students remain well informed about key institutional decisions and developments.
Recognizing transportation challenges faced by members of the university community, new buses are currently being procured to improve campus transportation, a move expected to greatly enhance mobility between university locations.
Furthermore, efforts are underway to improve essential campus infrastructure with the construction of additional boreholes and modern lavatory facilities, which will significantly enhance water supply and sanitation across the university environment.
These achievements within the first month in office underscore Professor Ibileye’s proactive leadership style and his commitment to addressing immediate institutional needs while laying the foundation for long-term development.
The university community remains optimistic that this momentum will continue as the Vice-Chancellor works collaboratively with staff, students, and stakeholders to advance the vision and mission of the institution.
